SITE STABILIZATION
Existing lands can be made up of soft, muddy soil at low-lying grades. These properties need a stable foundation that can be trusted to hold up overlying structures. Placing a lift of TDA directly on the existing grade creates a strong foundation, eliminating the risk of differential settlement or other failures.
How does TDA accomplish this?
When compacted, the irregular shapes of the TDA pieces interlock in a waysimilar to Velcro. We like to call this the “snowshoe effect” because it spreads throughout the site and prevents individual areas from sinking.
In addition, the high permeability and thermal insulation properties of TDA help create a capillary break. Moisture can’t wick its way towards the surface (which prevents frost activity). In fact, TDA has about 8 times better thermal insulation than soil!
